WEIGHT MANAGEMENT
1. Obesity is an epidemic of the current generation, round the globe . In 2016, more than 1.9 billion adults, 18 years and older, were overweight. Of these over 650 million were obese. 39 million children under the age of 5 were overweight or obese in 2020 as mentioned by WHO. Overweight and obesity are defined as abnormal or excessive fat accumulation that may impair health. Reason behind such surge in obesity is our unhealthy lifestyle i.e. eating unhealthy food rich in calories and no nutrient value, lack of physical activity and hormonal imbalance due to some other lifestyle disorders are the prime factors causing obesity. Managing obesity can be tricky but is possible.
MANAGEMENT-We will guide you and will be there with you throughout the process of weight management by first doing constitution (prakriti) analysis which will tell us the root cause of your condition. The next step will be guiding you about the right lifestyle choices for you; by providing customized diet and exercise plans including yoga. You will be helped to manage your stress by meditation and psychological counselling will be provided to the patients and the caregivers.
2. Being underweight– While we are battling the monster of obesity worldwide, malnutrition is still a cause of concern for many. Main visible sign of malnutrition is being underweight. Underweight patients are usually body shamed, but other than body shaming it can result in many serious health problems too. There are many reasons for not gaining adequate weight; common ones are high metabolism, not having proper diet, anorexia and genetics . But on the other hand it have a complex relation with other diseases like autoimmune disorders, chrohn’s disease, cancer.
